1967
In January 1967, The St. Louis Herb Society held its first Cooking School. The location was the auditorium of the Home Service Department of the Laclede Gas Company at its Shrewsbery branch, St. Louis County, Missouri (also known as Laclede Gas Kitchen). The theme was “Adventures in Herbs”.
The Society subsequently offered several cooking classes at the Laclede Gas Kitchen over a period of years before moving education classes to the Kemper Center for Home Gardening at the Missouri Botanical Garden.
The St. Louis Herb Society’s classes are very popular, particularly due to the excellent samples of dishes that include herbs.
